Montana contracts with the Association of State Social Work Boards (ASWB) for the Advanced Level exam and the Clinical Level exam.

An applicant is sent a notice of board approval and is requested to make an appointment to take the examination at their convenience. Approved applicants have one calendar year from the date of approval to sit for the exam.
